Manfred co-created WUFI as R&D staff for Oak Ridge National Laboratory (USA), and Group Manager of Software Development for Fraunhofer IBP (Germany). Take advantage of the opportunity to deepen your understanding of moisture and vapor analysis by using cutting edge technology, guided by one of the most knowledgable experts in the field. Manfred Kehrer and 475’s Floris Keverling Buisman will walk you through modern and revolutionary new building envelope design concepts. You will learn how the deleterious effects of moisture (both liquid and vapour), accrue, and how to remedy these. New techniques are shown, and you will be introduced to new material applications eliminating moisture-related problems in buildings, such as mold and decay. The overview ends with an extensive question-and-answer session that allows you to interact informally with the presenters.

State of the Art

WUFI has been widely validated (i.e. compared with the results of field tests on real buildings) ensuring that the simulation corresponds to real situations. In addition to the heat and moisture flow, WUFI can also display, realistically in the design stage, the moisture content within the individual component layers and at their boundaries. The advantages and benefits of WUFI are the fast, safe, and reliable analyses of the properties and safety margins of constructions. You can select and exchange individual component layers very easily and the transient simulation shows the change of heat and moisture flows, the implications for the design and the individual component layers in respect to mold and rot risk. Registration for this course includes an 4 week license for WUFI Pro 5.3.

WUFI Pro Enables You To:

  • Simulate, calculate, and analyze the heat and humidity flow through any kind of construction
  • Determine the moisture load in the individual component layers and their boundaries
  • Assess the risk of mold and rot in construction
  • Estimate the effects of external parameters on the design: temperature, humidity, rain, sunshine, orientation, and wind direction
  • Change the effects of air leakage (convective moisture input) according to the quality of airtightness of the construction

  • Hands On – WUFI Pro, program walk-through – 60 min.
  • WUFI Practice session, working on a hygrothermal problem upon request in sub-groups, present results by individual groups – 90 min.
