Register HERE through New York Passive House.

Cross Laminated Timber construction has seen a vast increase in popularity in recent years and is proving a welcome shift from energy-intensive traditional construction.  Projects are diverse and widespread throughout North America. NYC is now in a unique position to capitalize on the success and momentum of the experience of these projects (multifamily, schools and institutional) – to allow for ground-breaking CLT projects in urban context.

The event will bring together some of the top experts on natural wood fiber insulation, durable/reliable airsealing and CLT specialist for an in-depth discussion on how best to optimize the design and on-site delivery of truly high-performance mass timber constructions.

This seminar will be the first of its kind held in the USA and will focus on the very latest developments in delivering the highest specification for diffusion open, healthy, low energy sustainable buildings using more natural materials and draw upon 475’s own experience on wood fiber projects.

The focus is on CLT, its opportunities, and challenges in urban settings (fire code) – marrying it with wood fiber insulation and the airtighteness opportunities and challenges.

In this 3-hour workshop, attendees will gain detailed knowledge about:

1. How to detail and install wood fiber and CLT in high-performance enclosures
2. Challenges and benefits of airsealing, waterproofing full wood assemblies
3. Rules of thumb for using CLT and wood fiber application.
4. Lessons learned from completed CLT and wood fiber insulation projects
