Notes from New York: Lessons from a Growing Market

March 2 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Join Passive House Western PA and Green Building Alliance for an evening with Ken Levenson, one of the country’s leading experts on Passive House design and construction!

Experience:
Passive House is growing around the world – yet some regions seem to be moving farther, faster. Why? Ken Levenson of the North American Passive House Network (NAPHN) and 475 High Performance Building Supply recently had a chance to explore this question, and he recently shared his findings in Boston as the Plenary Speaker at the Passive House Massachusetts Symposium. Now, he’ll share those discoveries with an audience in Pittsburgh, where he’ll describe lessons learned that can be applied by those exploring and promoting Passive House in our region. Come learn his reflections on how New York is building its Passive House movement!

We’ll enjoy food and drinks at the WYEP/WESA Community Broadcast Center (“the first green radio station in the nation”) prior to enjoying Ken’s presentation in the station’s performance space.

Agenda:
5:30-6:00: Registration, Food, and Networking

6:00-7:30: Presentation by Ken Levenson

Learning Objectives:

  • Learn about how various regions around the United States are using Passive House strategies in building and design
  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of the Passive House building standard, including its intent, requirements, history, the players involved, some common misconceptions, and its applications for both residential and commercial buildings in different regions
  • Understand why the Passive House movement is growing at different rates in different regions
