475 Switches from FedEx to UPS and USPS
For years, FedEx has been the default shipping method used on foursevenfive.com, as of this week 475 will discontinue using FedEx in the US, wherever possible. Like our outspoken opinions on building industry support of petroleum products, our approach to FedEx is, “less is best”. What does this mean for you, our customers?
First, you can expect that same expedited delivery service and customer support. The delivery times from our warehouses closely match those we had with FedEx - with a very few exceptions. See the UPS delivery map in the United States on our Shipping Page. If you have any questions or concerns about this service let us know.
Second, you can know that the same impulses that caused us to start 475 in the first place, to make a better world for our children and future generations, are driving this decision. While reducing carbon emissions is an existential imperative - so too is eliminating the American scourge of completely preventable mass murders with weapons designed for war.
Today, America stands with nations like Somalia, which make it easy to acquire weapons of war in the world. Arming US citizens with semi-automatic weapons is not a result of a vote or even popular opinion, but allowed by politicians whose opinions are bought and coerced by the National Rifle Association. The same way an individual building project can fight fossil fuel interests, individual companies are now asked to stand up and refuse to engage with those who prioritize unfettered gun sales over common sense.
Consequently, FedEx’s corporate support for the NRA’s extremist, deadly, and socially destructive positions deserve to be fought. Hence we will not willfully use or fund companies that counteract our values and compromise our planet and people's overall well being.
We appreciate your understanding and hope you join us to make a more sustainable, peaceful planet possible.Sincerely, The 475 Team
